All the Civil services examination is conducted by the UPSC Board, the board conducts all the Civil services exams at a nationwide level, it is the competitive examination between a various student who is aiming for the same job, as mentioned it is a nationwide conducted examination there are N number of students so for very few posts, well, as previously we have briefly explained about the UPSC and the UPSC online Application form, but in this topic, we will cover the most important concept that is the UPSC Syllabus for Civil Services.

However, we can not focus on all the syllabus, because there are various job roles in the UPSC, and the syllabus keeps changing as per the direction of the board, well that’s why we will be focusing on some of the certain common subjects that are constant and most important for all the civil service exams.

Well, as mentioned in the previous posts there are 3 stages in getting into the civil service job the first phase is the Prelims, the second is the Mains and the final is the Interview, well, will look into the syllabus one by one:

UPSC Syllabus Prelims:

Well, there are 2 papers under the Prelims section both the paper consists of 200 marks, and 2 Hours of duration is provided for both the papers.

Firstly, the First paper is General Studies (GS) the paper is in the objective type format this exam is conducted with an intention to test every individual candidate’s general awareness in sense from various subjects.

Here are the UPSC Syllabus Prelims more of the subjects than a syllabus point of view:

• Firstly focus on the current events Nation and International Movement.
• Specifically, Indian History, and Indian National Movement.
• Additionally, World Geography- regarding the Physical, Social, Economic Geography.
• Equally important, Indian Polity and Governance – everything about creating and governance of Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Simultaneously, Economic and Social Development
• Meanwhile, Science and Technology,
• Finally, International Relations, and associated UPSC current affairs

Afterward, the second paper of the UPSC Prelims Paper is The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper,below provided are the subjects for the second paper:

• Firstly, Comprehension (passage and paragraph type of question)
• Secondly, Interpersonal skills including communication skills
• Additionally, Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Simultaneously, Decision-making and problem solving
• Meanwhile, nevertheless General mental ability
• Finally, Basic numeracy (Class 10th), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, Class 10th)

UPSC Syllabus Mains: 

Once and only when you clear your prelims exams and satisfy the predefined aspects, then you are only allowed to write the mains exams.

The UPSC board consists equally important of a total of 7 papers all the exams are of over 250 marks all the exams are for 3 hours there are 2 language papers one is the English language and the other is any language spoken in India as per the board’s options choice.

However, the mains exams are not multiple choice they are Descriptive type question papers which means you are needed to provide a valid explanation for all questions.

Now let’s look into the syllabus part of the UPSC mains exams:

Well, UPSC provides the list of the optional language, there are 48 options from which the candidate needs to choose that he/she wants to give the exam, the remaining papers are mandatory to all the candidates.

They has to choose the language at the initial stage of applying for the job, most of the time in the interview round the board directors ask the candidate questions regarding the choice of his optional subject.
